Am I like the only one that think 50 is overrated? I mean he aight, but to compare him to 2pac? WTF!!!! Please, the only reason why 50 is as big as he is, is because of that beef he started with JaRule, and then he has DR. Dre producing his records. 50 is a straight up commercial rapper. 2pac was what you would call a lyricist and a poet. He put real shit out there, not some stupid, "In the Club" type of music. And to the person that said 2pac was and 50 cent is, no, tupac was and still is. His record sales still sky rocket, and 50 cent is the one who wants to be like pac. You can't compare the master to the amateur.

Hold up Hold up.......

Who produced 2pac's albums on DeathRow records? icon_arrow.gif Dr. Dre
JaRule did not make 50Cent a household name, I think it's the opposite. JaRule is getting more exposure now that 50 Cent mentioned his name in his multi-platinum album. 50 Cent was shot 9 times in New York. He was soon dropped from Columbia Records and his LP, Power Of The Dollar was never released by Columbia Records. It was never an official album release, the streets wanted the album so bad that they bootlegged it. I think 2pac is the best rapper ever. When 50 Cent retires from the music business he will be known as the best rapper alongside tupac shakur and Christopher Wallace a.k.a. Notorious B.I.G. You said "In da club" was stupid icon_arrow.gif During one week in March, the song reached 170.2 million radio listeners, according to the industry trade magazine Billboard. "It's the most listened-to song in chart history," said Silvio Pietroluongo, who oversees Billboard's Hot 100 ranking of popular songs. The tune's success helped 50 Cent's album "Get Rich or Die Tryin' " sell 872,000 copies in its first four days of release -- a record for a new artist. " icon_arrow.gif So are don't tell me that. Even tupac shakur himself did not have a debut as big as 50 Cent. Right now 2pac is not selling records like 50 Cent.Don't get me wrong Tupac is the greatest but don't tell me 50Cent is overrated. The rap game belongs to 50Cent right now. icon_idea.gif

Yeah, I get what you're saying, Prince. But, I'm just saying that in terms of lyrics and substance he does not touch Tupac, and is not at the top.

HOLD UP, WAIT A MINUTE-ON SOME REAL SHIT!

First and foremost, every real hip hop cat knows that it is incorrect to judge an artist by his/her record sells. To sell records these days obviously you don't need talent! Just look at Ashanti! Besides, you can have a million record sells today, and be a nobody tommorrow. Secondly you can't really compare the record sells of an artist who is living now, to one who is dead, because the dead artist can't promote his/her record. But if you wanna take record sells into account of an artists' talent, which I already noted was the incorrect thing to do, you must note that hip hop during tupac's time and hip hop now, were on two different levels of popularity. Back when tupac was alive, hip hop was catered to a mostly black audience. Most white people didn't know shit about tupac or biggie for that matter, because hip hop was not popular among white people. They didn't start playing most rap songs on MTV until after Tupac's death. Now in this day in age, hip hop has made that cross over and now it is more popular because white people are starting to become hip hop fans, so what does that mean? More record sells. Now that we have cleared the record sell issue up lets explore the basis of what makes a great hip hop artist. A great hip hop artist is not one because his/her enormous fan base or popularity. A great hip hop artist is one who has a drastic effect on hip hop. Now 2pac has a lasting affect on hip hop because while he was living he was considered to be a great MC, and after his death he is still remembered as the greatest rapper of all time. Like I said before, he was a lyricist. Every song that he wrote had meaning, like a true poet, and they actually touched people. I think anybody who really knows tupac music will agree with me when I say that his songs never die. Even until this day I can bump a tupac song that came out all the way in like 92. But I can tell you that I'm sick as hell of 50 cent's "21 Questions" and "wanksta" "In the Club", etc. That's because the quality of music are not the same. 50's music is more of a commercial sound, particularly to sell records. You will get tired of his music in due time because it has no specific meaning or anything. You really must know the difference between a lyricist/MC and a commercial rapper, before you can even consider 50 cent being on the same level as pac. I would place Lauryn Hill, The Legendary Roots, Common, Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, KRS 1, Scarface, over 50, before I compare 50 to pac, because these are artists with lyrical skills and ability and that's real. God forbid something happens to 50, he will be remembered for who he was, but he won't be remembered for making a monumental affect on hip hop like 2pac has(maybe in like the white community 50 will be considered great because most don't really know about real hip hop, but us real hip hop fans know the true deal) Hell, Lauryn Hill would crush 50 in a lyrical battle! Have you ever actually listened to 50's lyrics? I mean ignore all the background music, all the beats, and just listen to the words he's spittin. He sounds retarded as hell! His lyrics consist of BS over a tight ass beat! Let Dr. Dre decide to retire and 50cent will be no more! 50's time is almost up anyway because he's not as popular as he was when he first came out. His thug image is what's really holding him.........And don't get me started on jarule icon_wink.gif

First of all, dont even give me that bullsh&t that 50's 872,000 sale of his debut album is a record for a debut artist....If u say debut artist i hope u r talking about only rap, cos if not then u r about to get burned....N-syncs debut albut sold over 2million. in a day; Christina A.'s debut albut album sold over 1million over a weekend;
2condly, what the fq was the sh&t about Rule gettin exposure from 50???
Rule is more popular than 50 in the first place cos he's sold more albums overall, he's been in the game longer, & he introduced max artists like
Vita, Christina Milian, Charlie B.more, & the beautiful Ashanti....So, b4 you present ur arguement, bro, make sure u do ur Homeworkfoo!

Yeah I didn't even think about that. You're talking about 50 sold 800,000 something albums in the first 4 days?! That's it? He only sold 1 million albums overall. That's nothing, JaRule went triple platinum on his joint, so what are you talking about? The way albums are selling today, 1 million is a number to laugh at, seriously, that's barely making it platinum!

Exactly what I said in my previous post. Comparing 50 to Tupac is ridiculous. It's like comparing Ashanti to Aaliyah (AS IF!)

To further this arugument by G and HaitianPrincess here are a few lyrics to 50 and Tupac and you tell me which one is more deep:

WANKSTA by 50 Cent

We do this all the time, right now we on the grind
So hurry up and cop and go selling nicks and dimes
Shorty shes so fine, I gotta make her mine
A ass like dat gotta be one of a kind
I crush em every time, punch em with every line
Im fuckin with they mind, I make em press rewind
They know they cant shine if Im around the rhyme
Been on parole since ninety four cuz I commit the crime
I say you on my line, I did it three ta nine
If ds ran up in my crib, you know who droppin dimes

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE by Tupac

Come listen to my truest thoughts, my truest feelings
All my peers doing years beyond drug dealing
How many caskets can we witness
Before we see it's hard to live
This life without God, so we must ask forgiveness
Ask mama why God deserved to die
Witness the tears falling free from my eyes
Before she could reply
Though we were born without a silver spoon
My broken down TV, show cartoons in my living room (hey)
One day I hope to make it
A player in this game
Mama don't cry, long as we try
Maybe things change
Perhaps it's just a fantasy
A life where we don't need no welfare
Shit with our whole family
Maybe it's me that caused it
The fighting and the hurting
In my room crying cause I didn't want to be a burden
Watch mama open up her arms to hugging
And I ain't worried bout a damn thang, with unconditional love

Must I go on? I didn't think so....

Till Next Time,

Psy
