I am glad today to share with everyone on this site that I am alive. I survived an hearth attack last thursday nite. It happened so sudden that with all my ignorance about an hearth attack I kept saying to my wife that It was indegestion and that I was going to be ok.
It started i guess around 1.00AM when I started sweating heavily and having difficulty breathing, and then the powerlessness, couldnt move a muscle.
I was taking to the St Barnabas Hearth Center in west orange NJ where I was immediately diagnosed and operated on.
My lab reports and profile according to my cardiologist were deceptively good: don't smoke, drink, don't eat meat (for 17years) and dont do illegal drugs, but it happenned. Iwas holding to life by a single thread.

I will continue...

Don, thank you for sharing and I am glad you fought and won that battle.

In a way, you spoke to many of us when you said "I was holding to life by a single thread" and you didn't know. We take so many things for granted... You are the proof one can have a heart attack even if you are young and in good physical condition, at least on appearance.

I am told that people that go through life-threatening experiences tend to re-assess their values and the way they look at people. Please tell us at some point whether this is also your case.

I wish you a prompt recovery!

Thank you Sucdoj.
It remains, naturally, a mystery as to how and what really happenned and that I am still around " alive " to share this extraordinary experience. as my cardiologist stated" my profile is or was "deceptively good" and the other surround circumstances contributed to my survival.Had my wife not been around or had I been driving alone ect... could have made a big difference in my chances for survival. I am thus concluding for now, that all of it was not merely coincidental, it all falls into the greater dimention and complexities of the living experience.

Yes, this experience, now more then ever, is leading me to view "life" in a different spectrum, to understand our vulnerabilities and our "frailty" as human.

Indeed, as it has been with others, these experiences affect you in many ways not necessarely thought of before and thus humbles you.

My appreciation for life and all living things or creature has never been any different than it is today, I reverred life that for example led me to become a vegetarian and than a vegan. My tolerance for others, regardless of their differences regarding me, never led me to be indefferent.

I am closing for now and hoping to continue at a later date cause I must retire to my bed as part of my recuperation.

I am looking forward to continue this dialogue with the Kiskeyan Family in the hopes that my experiences could be used as a catalyst for a better understanding of the human experience, since no one can claim monopoly or full knowledge of it...

Let's live, let's enjoy the beauties of life...

Thanks for sharing and I also wish you a quick recovery as well.

My father died of a heart attack a few years ago, he was a smoker for most of his life. But thats not what led to the last events. He had stop smoking 15 years prior to his heart failure.

The doctor believe it to be an infection of the heart. From what I recall it was polen only found in the carribean and haiti, it got into his system and started doing a slow damage.

Again wish you luck and hope it can be kept under control.
I for one have a history of hypetension and high blood preasure.
so am constantly analyzing my bodys aches and pains.
